I’m Just Plain Stuck!
Well hello friends and fellow readers. I’m back, and I am so excited to share another nugget with you.
Maya Angelou said, “If you cannot make a change, change the way you have been thinking. You might find a new solution.” Today, I am just plain stuck! I feel as though I am in a quandary. It sometimes gets that way. What to do! What to say! Ever been there? I can’t see, and it makes me uncomfortable, it’s painful, it’s scary! What if I find myself alone in the wilderness? God promises in His word that He will never leave us nor forsake us. You know, because of God’s nature, I bet He doesn’t see me as stuck. I think He might just see me as a little hesitant about making decisions. When I can really see me as God sees me, there will be a release. I will see the sides of that box I put myself in widen and fall down. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13. Maybe, that’s true. Maybe I’m a little stuck in my head. If you feel a little stuck, James says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him” – James 1:5.
Now, when I set out to do this blog, I said, “okay Lord, I’m stuck, I have nothing.” Everything that I could think seemed to be all wrong. When you find yourself stuck in whatever place, just stop! Be still and listen for God to give you directions. God can give you that new start, that fresh start that you need. In His word in Isaiah 43:19 God says, “Behold I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
Feeling stuck may cause you to feel just a little desperate, a little disconnected. Hagar struggled to hold on to hope when she was banished to the desert with her son Ishmael, but God had made her a promise that her descendants would become so numerous that they couldn’t be counted. “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ,” (2 Corinthians 1:20).
When you are feeling stuck: stop, take a deep breath and refocus; make yourself accountable, even if you have to get a partner to check in periodically; seek God first; stay motivated, what relaxes you? Remember that this is just temporary. Rome was not built in a day. It was a step by-step process. When a baby first begins to walk, he or she takes small steps, sometimes teetering and falling. However, the baby doesn’t give up. It just keeps trying.
You’ll get stuck too, and you may not see how to get unstuck, but remember where your strength ultimately comes from. God said that His strength is made perfect in our weakness. When you can’t see where you’re going, just open your eyes, He is the light that illuminates your path. Sometimes you have to make a change, but all you have to do is take one step at a time. Just know that you are not alone.
We’ll talk again later, but in the meantime, you’re wished much joy, love, peace, and blessings. (Barbara G!)
