Two Lives! (A Cat Has Nine)
Well, hello again dear friends and fellow readers. Yes, it’s me again back to share a few more nuggets to encourage you.
“Two road’s diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both. And be one traveler, long I stood; and looked down one as fas as I could…, then took the other, as just as fair, and having, perhaps the better claim…Two road’s diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.” (Robert Frost)
Life is but a journey to wherever. It all depends on which road we choose. Do we take the one that is wide, where we can veer off the path, or do we take the one that is narrow where we have to walk straight? Life is such a precious gift, a gift that grants that we can, by our choices, live on in eternity.
Did you know that you have two lives? What’s your other life going to look like? No, your two lives are not like the proverbial nine lives of a cat. Your two lives consist of the earthly life that you have, and the life that you will have in eternity.
Now I want you to think about that for a few minutes. You had no choice about the life you would have when you were birthed into this world, but as you grew and were introduced to Jesus you had a chance to make the decision about your second life. They may be known to the Christian as the old nature and the new nature. “I have come that you may have life and that you may more it more abundantly.”
Mary Wells recorded a song by the title of Two Lovers. The first lover was sweet and kind and treated her good. The other lover treated her bad, made her sad, and made her cry. That lover was one and the same. Now you’re probably saying, what has that got to do with anything. What’s your point? Well, that’s us. When we’re in the world, we are the first lover. The world (Satan) loves us, but when we turn that corner to acceptance of Jesus, the world (Satan) begins to throw up all kinds of roadblocks. Life doesn’t seem so sweet.
Forrest Gump said that his mama always said: “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.” Life is kind of like that too, you know! You never know what the next day will hold. But if you make the right choice in life, you won’t have to be concerned about what the flavor of the day will be.
Joshua 24:15 informs us that Joshua said to the Israelites: “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” If you haven’t chosen which life you choose to pursue, now is a good time. The choice is yours.
Alrighttty my friends, well that’s it for now. We’ll talk again later. But in the meantime, I wish you love, joy, peace, and blessings in abundance!
“We have two lives, and the second begins when we realize that we only have one. ~Confucius~
