God Bless A Praying Mom
I’m Tiana, Admin Assistant of a family real estate team based in Virginia, the Generation Next Realty Team, and a freelance Graphic Designer, where I assist Charles and Diane with their marketing materials. I am so thankful to be a part of their victorious journey to spread light, love and creativity with all the ears that care to listen and connect. It’s wonderful how much power is in the tongue, just speaking is a form of creation, because we’re all the heirs of God above. And Charles & Diane are remarkable for not only using their own voices and experiences to connect with others, but they invite so many people along to share their own stories, which is very beautiful. Thank you, Charles & Diane for the opportunity you’ve extended for me to be a part of your Winning Team.
With each victory and milestone I cross, I’m spoiled with the support and excitement of my parents. Through all the victories God has granted on my journey of continuous self-growth, my support system has been strong. Developing and growing even an inch closer into my divine purpose is a victory worth celebrating. I’m also very grateful that I have the additional opportunity to essentially run back to my Mom and Dad and share some significant experiences I’ve had on my journey. They are honestly my biggest cheerleaders and I’m truly blessed to receive that kind of support from my parents as I take on life the best way I can with the lessons and morals they’ve imparted on me.
I can't thank my Mother enough for being a beautiful nurturing force in my life. I had to grow more soundly in that appreciation through time because the “terrible two’s” had nothing on the stubborn teenage years I was entering. I’ve always been a fairly quiet and reserved individual, but in those early teen years of trying to find my voice and challenge authority, I had moments where I lost the awareness of who was always, unwavering and steadily, on my side. My wonderful and beautiful mother, Dorothy, who I call “Mom” or endearingly, “Beautiful Lady”, has stood firm in her support and love for me, throughout everything. I can’t imagine what it must have been for her to see an adorable little girl, because I really was absolutely and undeniably adorable, embarking on a metamorphosis. I became a starry-eyed teenager with big dreams and big opinions, who also adopted reclusiveness and anxiety.
In every chapter lived, it was still a given that there was nothing more important than family. There was no way I could question my mother’s love. I woke up to her embrace and slept soundly under her wings. As tempting as it was to believe growing up that my life was comprised of two characters, me verses the world, her warmth and prayers helped to cover each step forward. God blessed me greatly with a loving mother who’s quick to pray for her children.
Faith has played a massive role in both my mother's journey and my own. God doesn’t have grandchildren, so we can both attest to the fact that we have prayed for His protection and received it. We have prayed for His mercy and received it. We have prayed for His grace and guidance and received it.
One evening, I wondered in my mother’s room and saw a book I never noticed before, it wasn’t the Bible, but it referenced some teachings of the Bible. I specifically got curious about some sheets of paper stashed within the pages, so I opened and read through them. I rarely did anything of that nature because it’s not very polite and I understood personal boundaries. But I strangely felt pulled to open up this book, so I sat on her bed after school and read what she wrote on those notebook pages she ripped out and placed between the book. My mother wrote the same sentence over and over on all three pages, “I trust that the Lord will carry me through the things I don’t understand.” When I read the first sentence and realized that she repeatedly wrote it throughout the pages, it sent a feeling of peace and security I wasn’t aware I needed.
I learned to trust that God is our protector and provider through the consistent show of faith from my mother. In any climate, facing any storm, God has all the power to offer shade and solace. Fast forward to 2020, many families seemingly left at a standstill in result of abiding by the CDC’s guidelines for COVID-19. Grandparents, parents, daughters and sons either holding off on any physical contact or quarantining for at least two weeks, and getting tested before giving a simple hug again. We have access to so many online platforms to achieve connection, but it’s indisputable that the most immersive technological innovations available can never fully replace physical touch and affection.
My heart truly goes out to everyone braving this pandemic the best way they can. You are not alone in this battle, and every concern is known by our Holy Father. Any strength I have results from communicating with God throughout my day, not relying on a formal prayer, but a continual inclusive discussion where I air out my thoughts and lay them at His feet. My faith allows me to feel secure as I face the social limitations that were also brought upon the entire world. I am human, so I definitely miss the freedoms that were taken for granted before. I’m a proud daughter and I love my Mom, so I would absolutely love to have her with me each day, but we literally live thousands of miles a part in two separate countries. But God delivers nothing with the intent to break us, more so to validate the spiritual power we have within.
God knows I find myself wanting to hold my mother and sit there in her embrace, no need for words, just a peaceful flow of unconditional love. But she raised a strong woman who prays as much as she does. My mother is a powerful woman in her own right and so am I. My mother is a warm and sweet person and so am I. My mother is a proud Christian woman and so am I. And I repeat my mother’s affirmation several years later, I trust that the Lord will carry me through the things I don’t understand.
