And He Said, I Know…
Well hello again family and friends. I am back with the last nugget for this year. Thank you so much for joining me on this journey.
As I pondered what I could say as we come closer to the end of another year, I simply bowed my head and said, “thank you, Lord.” It has been a tumultuous year in many ways. The wars, the crooked politics, the devastating acts of nature, the killing, just to mention a few, have left us reeling. We have tried in many ways to get our footing only to have them slip from under us again and again.
Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path.” That is the only way that we are able to safely continue to maneuver through these times in life. Trust and obey. When your strength fails, and you are about to fall, you need a leaning post. Jesus is that post. He says, “just lean in unto me, I’ve got you.”
Sometimes when I get up, I am a little wobbly, a little unsteady. I may even stagger a bit, but I’m not drunk. I’m just a little weary and I need something to hold on to. So, I turn to Jesus. He is that leaning post, that strong tower.
Our physical bodies will often become worn out and need a rest, but did you know that your spiritual body can become tired as well. Well, it can, and it does. What do I mean? Well, I’m glad you want to know.
There is a term that many are using today. That term is self-care. Self-care involves all aspects of your life…physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. If we don’t take care of our physical bodies, the other parts will decay. The same is true of our spiritual bodies. Feed them, nourish them, cover them and protect them, or you will find yourself in need of more knee power, more word, and more peace.
Yolanda Adams and Tamela Mann both sing a rendition of the song “Step Aside.” In it the lyrics say step aside, cast your cares on Him, for He loves you. Nothing that happened and will happen catches Him by surprise, because He already knows and He sees what we’re going through.
But God…?? “Yes,” He says, “I know, but it’s okay. I have allowed these obstacles to grow you. I’ve got you and I care.”
As I look back over my life this past year, I realize that many have been the times that I wanted to “fix it,” but I couldn’t and I found myself going back to one of my favorite scriptures, Psalm 42:10. “ Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted in the heaven and I will be exalted in the earth.” That’s it you all, just be still. Psalm 27:14 tells us to “wait on the Lord.”
That’s it for this time. I have enjoyed sharing with you, and I look forward to bringing you even greater encouragement in the coming year. In the meantime, be blessed, enjoy your families and stay safe! Much love!!
“For I know the plans,” says the Lord. (Jeremiah 29:11)
“You don’t always need a plan. Sometimes you just need to breathe, trust, let go and see what happens.” ~Mandy Hale
