My husband and I agreed that our children would be home-schooled. This decision would mean I would quit my job and be a stay at home mom. Our three children are amazing and they keep me on my toes. However, my creative juices were in need of an outlet.

My passion for drawing was the perfect way to release my creativity. I began to sketch again and I realized how much I missed drawing. After a conversation with my husband, I begin to think about how I could use my artistic gifts to create a business.

My husband suggested I consider face painting which made me apprehensive because I had never done it before. My curiosity led me on an exploration of the art of face painting. Once I saw how others were using face painting in creative ways, I decided to try.

I started painting on my face first and once my kids saw my face painted they asked me to paint their faces. I became obsessed with creating new face paintings on all of my family members including my husband, sister, mom and of course the kiddos.

Eventually, everyone started running away and hiding from me and my paint brush. So, I used my face and body as my canvas to create and practice my craft. Once I was comfortable with my paintings, I began to post my work on social media. The positive feedback on my creations motivated me to began my business.

My husband came up with the name Jenny’s Face Canvas and I was not feeling that name. After looking at the name and saying it a few times, it grew on me and now I love it. On my mothers recommendation I got my first paint party. The was a huge success and confidence booster, I had over 20 kids.

Jenny’s Face Canvas is slowing taking off and my party bookings are beginning to come more frequently. I am learning the the business as I go with the encouragement from my husband and family. I know that I am on the right track every time I see the smile and excitement on a child’s face after one of my creations.

I am looking forward to the growth and expansion of where this creative journey will lead. Check out my Instagram and Facebook pages: @jennysfacecanvas on IG and @facepaintingbyjennny on Facebook.

I would like to encourage anybody seeking the next move to never give fear the power to stifle your creativity.

OneLove ~ Jennifer
