One Love Adventures Flowing in Lisbon

Olá from Lisbon!

We are continuing to enjoy our time here in Portugal creating space to experience the amazing people, delicious food and culture, starting with becoming more familiar and confident with the Metro system.  We have ridden all four metro train lines (blue, green, red, and yellow); without getting lost. High fives for everyone!

Our first huge win came with allowing plans to take shape versus trying to shape them!  This has meant not seeing people when we thought we would and allowing our daily plans to shift and eliminate items as needed. For goodness sakes we're in Europe to explore and experience new things all while dropping love along the way!  What we’re not going to do is stress over micro-scheduling. We speak what we would like to experience and then create the space for it to happen. Believe it or not, that's working out nicely for us, thus far.

For instance, we decided to visit as many museums as possible. This week we've visited three museums.  First being the Museum of Lisbon/Pimenta Palace which exhibited the historical make up of Lisbon.  It was a wonderful experience and for under 6Euros it was definitely, a bang for the buck!  Coming in second was the Museum of Theater and Dance, an interesting historical look into the making of theater in Lisbon.  The amazing costumes on display were by far the highlight of the museum. Both museums included extravagant gardens and landscapes.  The museum of theater landscaping included areas that were like a mini enchanted forest!  It was simply magical; Charles was inspired to pause and do Tai Chi!

Our third museum was the Money Museum, admission was FREE-ninety-nine, how ironic considering it was all about money. We enjoyed the museum, even the part when one of the guard approached and said “the museum is closed get-out!” We would have been offended had he not said the same thing to everyone else. I thought it was pretty cool actually, no soft gloves, smiles or niceties just GET OUT!!!

We celebrated our 18th Wedding Anniversary at the Lisbon Oceanarium. Our celebration included taking a cable-car lift over the water.  This was a big deal because Charles is not one for heights, I know he took that ride for the love of Diane! Speaking of love, we encountered a group of young people outside the metro stations holding signs for free hugs. How cool is that Do I really have to say what came next?  Of course, I accepted and gave a hug to one of the young ladies!  It was by far one of the highlights of the day.

After only two weeks in Portugal, Charles and I are flowing nicely with the culture, people, and food.  We are surprising ourselves with the things we are trying!  I guess it's true what they say, when in Portugal....

Oh, I must mention the delicious food that we have been eating here. The seafood, especially the fish, is deliciously mouthwatering. We are over here trying all kinds of news foods, without hesitation, guess that would be aligned with the flow of adventure. Our search for different restaurants has also led us to the most amazing, beautiful areas of Lisbon with astonishing views. We have literally changed directions while heading for one restaurant and ended up at another one. As a result of going with the flow of changing restaurants we have landed in really cool spots that we hadn’t planned for.

Our Airbnb is next door to a KinderCare, another benefit of staying amongst the locals. Staying next to this pre-school offers the gift of waking up every morning and hearing the sounds of children’s laughter and playing, which reminds us to have fun and laugh often.

As we continue flowing with our adventures here in Portugal, we have a few exciting waves on the horizon. For instance; continuing to visit local museums, visiting bookstores, connecting with a few Americans living here in Portugal, checking out more amazing restaurants and of course, finding a movie theater to catch a couple of new releases.  That’s just a glimpse of what we’d like to explore, but hey, this journey has a life of its own and we are here for it!

So, be sure to stay turned to see what pops up in the next update!  Live your JOY!!
Thanks for reading!
